A Letter From Dr. Jones

Hello everyone,

I am so excited to share with you all of the nutrition information that I have learned through the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute.

Their are so many different diets, and fads out now. What we need to keep in mind is that this journey is a lifestyle change, and not a quick fix.

I am very passionate about nutrition because I have my own journey that I set forth on since 2011. In my training, I was so busy, I thought I didn't have time to workout or watch my diet. During my third year rotation, I stepped on the scale and was at my highest weight. I was 206 pounds!!

I started to monitor calories, and work out at the YMCA. I then completed residency, moved back to Houston, started to work with a trainer, and continued to see results. It wasn't until I got back to Houston that I started to focus on nutrition. Nutrition is the most important aspect of any lifestyle change. I have learned this throughout my own journey, and it has been reinforced through the Dr. Sears course that I am now certified in. I am 40 pounds down and I have done it the right way! I have continued to incorporate exercise not only because it is a great stress reliever, but it also releases endorphins which are feel good proteins that influence us positively both physically and mentally.

So why the L.E.A.N Expectation program? As I stated above, it is not a diet, it's a lifestyle change! It was developed by Dr. Sears, a well known pediatrician, who was diagnosed with colon cancer, and began to analyze his diet. He then began to focus on foods rich in nutrients that could boost his immune system naturally and maintain his overall health. Becoming L.E.A.N is about focusing on the four pillars of health: lifestyle, exercise, attitude and nutrition, and eating more fruits and vegetables. Adapting this lifestyle change can help clients become a healthier, leaner version of themselves.
